how do I update placeholder transactions for expired short put options?

Options
The placeholder implies that the short option was established before the transaction register's first entry.

I don't know much about entering options in Quicken, and will leave that to the other SuperUsers that know much more, but a placeholder doesn't imply a "short option".  It implies a missing transaction(s).

And the way that you resolve any placeholder is by entering the missing transactions.  You can't update/edit them for something like an expired put option because they have no "action" other than adding or removing of shares of a security that doesn't have the right transactions to line up with what your financial institution is reporting that you have.

How did you enter the transaction which opened the short position? If it appears as a Sell, Quicken is confused and thinks a Buy must precede a Sell. The proper opening transaction is a Short Sale and the proper closing transaction is a Cover Short Sale.

I'm short selling either PUTs or Calls. Both are entered as a Short Sell (ShtSell) transaction to start, and a Covered Short (CvrShrt) to close the transactions.

Quicken records these properly on the import from Schwab if cash was involved in both transactions. However, if the Short PUT option expires, Quicken does not process the Schwab Expired Action transaction. I need to manually enter the ShtSell transaction for the number of shares, at a zero price. (and manually remove the placeholder transaction). Then the register balances to the Schwab register.
