Automatic mortgage amortization in downloaded transactions

MEckman Member ✭✭
I have a bill reminder for my monthly mortgage payment, which is linked to the loan account set up in Quicken. And that loan account knows the monthly amortization schedule. Why, then, can't the program automatically split the transaction categories to reflect the proportion going toward principal versus interest?

I suggest you use the loan reminder or memorized payee to enter the payment transaction.  For example, open the loan account, press Ctrl + Shift + N, and select Enter Loan Payment

When you say "downloaded transactions" do you mean downloaded into your checking account (Q CAN amortize these payments) OR do you mean "downloaded into the mortgage loan account".
For the latter, there's no account register and the ONLY transactions that can be posted to the account are the downloaded PRINCIPAL ONLY amounts.
