Is there any way to enter transactions that happened before the date you created the file?

I added an account starting March 2021 and would like to add the transactions from January and February. Since the beginning balance was set to March, can I enter the transactions previous to that date?

Sure, just type them in.  BUT, be sure to adjust the "Opening Balance" in that account to compensate for your manual inputs.
Watch that end-of-March balance to make sure you've made the proper adjustment.  Pre-March deposits to the account will reduce the Opening Balance while payments will increase it.

The opening balance is usually (should be) the first transaction in the register, just change it.

    Hello @Lady K,

Thank you for choosing to come to the Community with your questions!

To adjust the opening balance, you simply edit the opening balance transaction.

The opening balance should always be the first transaction in the account. So for example, if you are adding transactions back to 03/16/2020, your opening balance transaction should be entered on 03/15/2020. You will need to know the balance of the account on that day so you can edit the amount of the transaction as well.

Hope this answers your question, do let us know if you require further assistance with this and we will be happy to assist!

    Thank you!
