Trying to set up direct connect from wealthscape to Truist for existing accounts. Quicken sets up a new account and does not give an option to select an existing account. Why does it not give this option?

Have you first deactivated existing account for downloading?
You can't link to an account that is already linked to an online account.

I have deactivated existing account. In reconnecting I selected wealthscape investor and not simple transfer. quicken does not ask for linking existing data and a new investment account is set up. the download to Truist exists but ignores my history. How can I get to make a direct connection linking an existing account?

OK, I'm not sure why it won't allow you to link to the existing account, but maybe we can fix this problem in a different way.

The first thing would be to do a backup to make sure you can go back to it if something goes wrong.

Next you will want to remove any overlapping transactions from the new account.
Select the gear icon and then -> Edit Multiple Transactions, select the transactions you want to delete and then the Delete button.

Once that is done go to the old account and select the gear icon and then -> Moves Transactions -> Select All and set the move to account to the new one, and the select Move.

That should get you all the transactions in your new account.  From there you can delete the old empty account by going into the Account Details.
