Categories Missing in Report

I'm attempting to create a report for one of my rental properties showing income and expenses since the date of purchase. I've customized the report so that I'm selecting only those categories associated with the property income and expenses. However, several of these categories are not showing after generating the report. I notice that some of the categories not showing are those that are paid from escrow accounts (i.e. taxes and insurance) and those that are received from vendor accounts (i.e. rental income from property manager). But even a few categories paid from regular old checking accounts are not showing on the report. Any ideas about what's going on?

@ryan hofrichter Have you tried doing a validate or super validate? It seems like your issue is data file related.

First please save a backup file prior to performing these steps

    Validate:
    1. Go to File
    2. Validate and Repair File...
    3. Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 30 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
    Super Validate:
    1. Go to File
    2. Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
    3. Supervalidate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 30 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

After each Validate complete, please review the Validate & Repair Log.  Most of the time, it's pretty generic but sometimes there are errors noted that need attention.

Do you have all the accounts selected on the customize box?

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

    Yes, I do.
  • Do all these categories have transactions associated with them yet?  A category will not show up in reports until at least one transaction is posted using that category.  The transaction doesn't need to be in the reporting period, or it can even have been deleted.

Yes, absolutely, that's why I'm concerned about them not showing up.
