American Express Update Does Not Work

I tried performing AMEX update ten times. Each time it tried to link to an existing account that was NOT my AMEX account. Quicken does not let you override the account it picks. The other option is to add as a new account. Why would I do that. I already have the AMEX account set up. Now my existing account has no connection to AMEX and it will not let me restore the connection. I have the latest updates for Quicken. Just another typical Quicken failure to work correctly. I

Deactivate the account(s) in question first and then try again.

I should have mentioned that I had already tried deactivation, but it did not work. So, I just now restored from a back up that I had made before the first American Express re-authorization attempts, then I deactivated that account. I then performed a set up online process for American Express. This process apparently worked, however, the restoration process caused three other accounts to fail updates. I had to deactivate and restore each of those accounts to get them to work again.

I'm glad you finally got it to work. I have seen several reports that using restore can mess up existing online connections.  It seems that the restore does a sync with the Quicken Cloud dataset and it is very "fragile".
