9 month budget

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. When you create a budget, the advanced budget options let you change the starting month from the default, but there is no option to change the timeframe.
If you're trying to exclude the first 3 months of the year, you could probably create new categories for your transactions from April going forward and then customize the budget to look only for those new categories. The down side to this is it would be a lot of work creating the new categories and it would prevent Quicken from being able to automatically generate budget data based on previous months.
Another alternative would be to start a completely new Quicken file in April and create the new budget in that file. Since it would be a blank file, it would not have any of your customized data from your older Quicken file.

Have you considered keeping the budget for 12 months, but creating budget reports that only include 9 months?
Quicken user since Q1999. Currently using QW2017.

@Gary_MBCSC I would go ahead and create a 12 month budget for April 1, 2023 - March 31. 2024 realizing that you are only going to use 9 months of it. I would then as mshiggins suggested create 9 month budget reports for the 9 intermediate months. Then on December 31, 2023 create a new budget for January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024 with new 12 month reports to cover the new budget period.
