After being away from my computer since April 19th, I turned in on on May 8th. Quicken for Mac presented a update to download and install. I automatically said yes and waited for the refresh. This had worked so seamlessly for years that I have no longer been manually saving backups. Imagine my surprise when the system was restored to the December 11th automatic backup. Since I had installed multiple updates since December, that presumably also created backup files, is there somewhere other than the "Automatic back-up" folder where I may be able to find a more recent back-up to restore, or am I just screwed? Is there a possibility that the data file (80.4 MB) is just too large to store more transactions?

Shortly after Quicken first went to cloud Sync, I found my data file going back 12-15 years was corrupted. Some custom categories were missing and register entries had been replaced by defaults. Other custom categories were deleted and register entries showed blank spaces where no default was available. File size also changed dramatically. And the corruption propagated after recreating and reassigning categories. I eventually solved this problem by returning to a prior backup. However, a significant amount of data was lost. And, at that time, I turned Sync off. Meant to stay off forever.

Today, my bookkeeper discovered that this data corruption issue has returned. We discovered that, for some reason, Sync was now back on. I suspect this change happened in the background during the most recent update to Version 9.0.1 (Build 900.60628.100).

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm thinking about purchasing a used M1 MacBook Pro with only 8GB of RAM for use with Quicken Classic (latest version). Assume that I'm running the most recent version of macOS. How well does Quicken run on a computer like this? (Assume no other large apps running concurrently.) If it's going to be slow and feel unresponsive, I'd rather know that now rather than finding out afterward.

Thanks very much!

Dave

I believe I saw an email that said Monterey will no longer be supported by Quicken. I am using Quicken Version 8.4.2. Does that mean my version will no longer work or just no new updates ? How will it affect downloading accounts ? I am assuming I will have to update OS eventually. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Forgive me if this is the thousandth time that this question has been asked but I would actually like to set my Quicken file up correctly this time. I am running Quicken Classic Deluxe Version 8.3.3 (Build 803.58927.100) on a Mac laptop. I would like to set up a new file starting 01/01/2026 with no previous history from my old Quicken file.

What is the best way to do this? Should I manually enter my bank statement amount from 12/31/25 and then proceed to connect to downloads? Will I then have to manually remove all transactions dated prior to 01/01/26 using this method?

What about investment accounts? Best to manually enter them?

Sorry to appear so clueless, I just want things to be correct.

Many thanks for any advice you can provide.
