Can someone tell me what symbol to use to get quote/prices for gold and silver

    If you're referring to the futures price (i.e. /GC and /SI) you can't.  You can get a quote for the associated ETFs (i.e GLD and SLV).

    If Forex symbols work, you can see if XAGUSD does the job. It is the next closest thing (I have not looked into this so YMMV).
