Is there a report that shows the number of shares owned

I was wondering if there was a report i could use for reconciliation monthly that will show the ending balance $$ and the ending balance of shares owned...
I keep going thru the investment canned reports and am not sing anything ...

Yes.
Reports > Investing > Portfolio Value
shows both the number of shares and the market value of the shares.
If you are actively trading enough that you need to reconcile the number of shares each month, there is an action for that under the gear icon of your investing register.
