Why must I always have internet access to sign in to quicken?

Why must I always have internet access to sign in to quicken? I don’t always need it. After I do, it always wants me to use mobile app. I always say no but always get the same question.

Are you Syncing to Mobile/Web?
Do you use the Mobile app on your smartphone or the new Quicken on the Web feature?

If no, turn Sync off completely.

AFAIK, if you want to use Quicken offline,

• your Ethernet cable must be unplugged
• your WiFi must be disabled in Windows

or Quicken will attempt to connect
