I'm new to quicken and while I have most of my accounts setup I have one that I'm having problem get it entered. It's a mutual fund that I've owned for a long time but never really kept track of. I've gone to the security list and searched for the symbol and added it but how do I enter like the number of shares and historical transactions to it?

Your mutual fund is normally held at some brokerage -
You need to have setup a Quicken Account to represent the brokerage with the ADD ACCOUNT -
then you can connect to the brokerage & download all your holdings - like the mutual fund. What brokerage are you using ?What mutual fund symbol ?0 -
I called and asked them and they do not offer a direct connect to Quicken nor do they have a downloadable file that I can import so I'm stuck doing this manually.0

Well... it still would help if you would tell us the name of the brokerage & the mutual fund

Franklin Templeton / Clearbridge Large Cap Growth Fund0

ok... yeah - just setup a manual account - ADD "offline" ACCOUNT - for your Franklin Templeton -
and then create the Security - ... Tools --> Security List --> Add Security
if this is the Class you have, then just add the public traded symbol - SBLGX - and enter your transactions

Yes I did try that before calling them, what I get is an error in Quicken saying "Oops, Did you mistype your login? CC-503" and I'm able to login to the Franklin Templeton account online access which is actually at "https//my.accessportals.com/app/lg/login" and I can download my pdf statements from there but the username / password that I use to login there does not work in Quicken when I select Franklin Templeton Investments and use the same username and password. Which is what I told them and they still claimed that they did not have direct Quicken access for my particular investment. So it seems really odd to me why Franklin Templeton is listed but direct access doesn't work.0 -

I'm not 100% sure because this mutual fund has had several names and several companies have provided the paperwork for it over the years (it was given to me as a gift by my grandmother on my 13th birthday in 1974) and most recently the agent / statement provider was Legg Mason who was in turn bought by Franklin Templeton. When I go to Franklin Templeton and click Account Access it redirects me to the url I gave you and when I login the only download option I'm given is to get the pdf statements and that's what lead me to call and get the "Sorry there is no Quicken direct access" answer.
On another note, I went back to 2017 and I'm starting to enter what few transactions there are each year and I need to enter a fee where some very small amount of shares is sold to cover the fee. In this case it's 0.071 shares equaling $3.75. I can't figure out how to do that in one transaction as if I enter a transaction to sell shares it sells the shares but adds the cash to the balance and then I'd have to create another transaction to remove the $3.75 of cash from the account?0
