Schwab Updates Freezing Quicken

Just adding my problem to the list. Quicken freezes when I try to download from Schwab. I tried both "resetting" and "deactivating" and "reactivating" with the same result. As others have noted, this has been going on for quite a while now. It's disgraceful and negligent that Quicken hasn't figures this out yet.

    Hi @ArturoM

Sorry to hear that you are having these issues.  Did you take the steps to "reauthorize" your Schwab accounts when Schwab decided to change its connection method with Quicken several months ago?  If not, that could be the reason you can no longer connect.

If that is true - I suggest that you completely disconnect all of your Schwab accounts, and then reconnect them under the new protcol

Let me know if you have any followup questions.

I reset my Schwab accounts a few months ago when transactions were not downloading. I had had no problem since then up until last week. When I try to connect now, Quicken freezes and I have to exit the program and go back in. Yesterday I tried deactivating my two Schwab accounts. The system froze during the process but when I went back in the accounts were deactivated. I then tried setting them up again. I got as far as the Schwab authorization and the accounts appeared to have been linked, but when Quicken attempted an online update of the two accounts the program froze and kicked me out again. At this point, I guess I'm going to have to call Quicken support and see if they can do a real-time diagnosis.

It took 3 1/2 hours with two different reps, but they got it working. Went through a lot of different scenarios, but the one that seemed to fix it was clearing out the "Financial Institution" and "Account Number" fields on the existing accounts and then going through Tools/Add Account and linking to the existing accounts. Your responsiveness and willingness to help are very much appreciated.
