I had an old backup of a Mac Quicken 2007 that I was not able to open. I was getting the error "Resource fork is missing". Here are the steps that I took to solve my problem.

  1. Find a qdfm(Quicken 2007 file) file that you are able to import into Quicken
    1. Right click on the file and select “Show package content”
    2. Copy the file /Contents/Data File to another location
  2. With the corrupt file qdfm
    1. Right click on the file and select “Show package content”
    2. Copy the file /Contents/Data File to another location
  3. Download the tool: xattred from “THE ECLECTIC LIGHT COMPANY” (eclecticlight dot co)
  4. Open Both file with xattred
  5. On the corrupted file, you will be missing the com.apple.FinderInfo and com.apple.ResourceFork Flags.
    1. One at the time, select the flag( com.apple.FinderInfo and com.apple.ResourceFork), click on copy
    2. Go on the xattred window of the corrupted file and click pase
  6. Close xattred
  7. Go in Quicken and import the Data File.

Voilà!

I just started the process of migrating from Quicken 2007, and I got the resource fork error message. I fixed it by adding the .qdfm filename extension to the file (previously I had no extension at all), and then new Mac Quicken was able to import the file.
