I had an old backup of a Mac Quicken 2007 that I was not able to open. I was getting the error "Resource fork is missing". Here are the steps that I took to solve my problem.
- Find a qdfm(Quicken 2007 file) file that you are able to import into Quicken
- Right click on the file and select “Show package content”
- Copy the file /Contents/Data File to another location
- With the corrupt file qdfm
- Right click on the file and select “Show package content”
- Copy the file /Contents/Data File to another location
- Download the tool: xattred from “THE ECLECTIC LIGHT COMPANY” (eclecticlight dot co)
- Open Both file with xattred
- On the corrupted file, you will be missing the com.apple.FinderInfo and com.apple.ResourceFork Flags.
- One at the time, select the flag( com.apple.FinderInfo and com.apple.ResourceFork), click on copy
- Go on the xattred window of the corrupted file and click pase
- Close xattred
- Go in Quicken and import the Data File.
Voilà!

I just started the process of migrating from Quicken 2007, and I got the resource fork error message. I fixed it by adding the .qdfm filename extension to the file (previously I had no extension at all), and then new Mac Quicken was able to import the file.1
