What are the blue dots in the left-most column of the registers and do they ever go away?

Ok, so the blue dot is an un-reconciled downloaded transaction. But this transaction has been downloaded, has had a category assigned, and I don't plan to do anything more with it. What is necessary to "reconcile" it?
As a new Quickeneer, I suggest you go through all the help articles. Asking and answering one question at a time is not an efficient use of anyone's time.
