Quicken cannot open the data file

First CC-502, now "Quicken cannot open the data file because it is in use by another application, such as a cloud storage backup. Please close that application or turn off cloud storage sync and try again."

I have exited the program and restarted several times, still get this message. Also, have restarted and shutdown, turned on the pc several times as well. Still get this message. Don't have any other browsers running.

What is the full path to your Quicken data file? Are you using OneDrive or Dropbox

There is more however. I had just completed entering new trans actions in my Fidelity Rewards account and before leaving, I decided to run Validate file. It crashed and wanted to send my files to quicken. I did not. So, is there a lock file somewhere that thinks the "send to quicken" still has it locked.

I would suggest restoring the backup that was made automatically before the Validate.

There appears to be no backups before validate, Quicken crashed during the Validate.

Is there a VALIDATE folder in the Quicken folder that contains your Quicken data file?

There are backups, dated 3 weeks ago. Nothing just before the crash report.

There is a VALIDATE folder in the directory where the quicken file is located. In that folder, there appears to be a very recent copy of the file that is "locked".

Also, I tried to rename the file that is locked and the windows OS thinks the file is still opened by another app. Again, is there a file lock on that db?

So I have a copy of the locked file in Validate, can that be opened and used?

    Is there a /VALIDATE/ folder in your /QB/ folder…..
which is normally named /Quicken/ ?

    C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Quicken\

    vs
     /Users/zf/0_A/finance/qb

    The folder C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Quicken\ is empty.

    that's MY folder names -
yours appears to be, or at least this is what you posted —→  /Users/zf/0_A/finance/qb

So…. what other folders are in your /qb/ folder ?

Short Answer- Yes. That file is a copy taken before the validate process started. If it works, move it to your desired folder and delete the corrupted file.

Thank you all for suggestions. I used a copy of the Validate folder an able to validate and use the most recent copy, as pointed out by Ps56k2, of the file. Just need to get CC502 resolved (discussed in a whole lot of other threads)….
