Have new credit card number - can't "deactivate" current Chase CC - using Starter (edit)

I use Windows Starter. Due to CC fraud, I have a new number. The option to deactivate my old card does NOT appear when I go to Tools - Account List - My credit card edit - online services. The only thing that appears is activate download and it ends up downloading 700+ transactions in an entirely new account listing. Is there any way at all to not have Quicken start a new account?

I also tried changing the credit card number to the new one but the number disappears and will not remain there. I have direct connect with Chase if that helps answer this. I'm sure there's a simple answer but I'm so frustrated.

@DawnJ I don't use Quicken Starter, but I am hoping this will still work for you.

    • First make a backup of your data file, just in case.
    • Go through the process of setting up a new CC account. Choose the FI, choose the appropriate options, enter your username and password.
    • When it gets to the screen where it finds the account at the financial institution, instead of "Add New", choose "Link to Existing" and link to your existing CC account in Quicken. This is a critical step. Make sure to "Link". Otherwise a new account will be created.

I am hoping the Starter edition will allow you to do this. Please let me know how it goes.

Thank you - I think it worked but just when I have time to do this, my bank decided to go offline this Sunday afternoon. I'll try it again when I have time to sit down one evening after work or maybe later this evening. Thanks!

Hello - it finally linked and downloaded the new transactions and added in some duplicates. I had to re-reconcile January & February and it still was off by $81. Instead of making myself crazy I just accepted the adjustment line it automatically added.

@DawnJ - I'm glad it worked. I understand you wanting to adjust for the $81 and moving forward.
