Resetting Credit Card Accounts

Just had to reset two of my accounts because Quicken wasn't downloading transactions for them. One was a savings account, the other was a credit card account. Why Quicken suddenly stops downloading transactions for accounts, I don't know (maybe the bank changes something so might not always be Quicken's fault) but at least I know what to do to solve the problem. However, when resetting a credit card account I've noticed that for some reason it changes the beginning balance of the account. This time it set the beginning balance equal to what the ending balance should have been. Really, what good reason is there for it to change the beginning balance of an account? Had this happen one or two times before so I knew what to look for and could correct it myself easily. Still, I shouldn't have to do things like this.
