Error 1706 - where to start? Windows 11 How can I submit a file to you when I cannot open it?

There have been several threads today on this error.  I am not familiar with the 1706 error but I found some information via Copilot. Some of the resolution suggestions may not apply, but other ones might be worth a try -

To resolve Error 1706, follow these steps:

* Repair the Program:* Go to the Control Panel on your computer.
* Look for the program that is causing the error.
* Right-click on it and choose Repair.
* Follow the prompts to complete the repair process.

* Check the Installation Source:* The error occurs when the original installer package is missing or inaccessible.
* Locate the installation source (usually a CD, DVD, or downloaded setup file).
* Make sure it’s available and accessible.
* If you downloaded the program, try redownloading it and reinstalling.

* Clean Up Temporary Files:* Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
* Type %temp% and press Enter.
* Delete all files and folders in the Temp directory.
* Restart your computer.

* Update Windows:* Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date.
* Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
