no option to add asset

I'm using Quicken for Mac desktop ver 7.6.1. When I try to add an asset account, neither the + icon for "add accounts," nor the dropdown menu "Accounts" at top of screen, offers a choice to add an asset. Instead, both of them automatically go to the "search for your financial institution" pop-up window. According to other posters' screen grabs, "add accounts" should offer up a dropdown menu of choices consisting of checking, cash, savings, money market, credit card, line of credit, asset, liability, investments, and loans. Specifically, I'm trying to add a house as an asset, but there's no apparent way to do that without that dropdown menu. This doesn't seem to match other users' experiences. Appreciate any recommendations on fixing.
