OSU Changes Opening Balance
I know others have had this issue and I have encountered this before. Typically. I just correct it and carry on. This time was no exception except but this time I may have stumbled on why it behaves like this, at least on my installation.
First, the account was USAA (yeah, I know, shocker). I have Pending Transactions ON and my accounts checked to show Pending in the register.
Yesterday, I ran OSU which completed normally. I accepted the USAA transaction (and the other accounts). Went to reconcile USAA using the Online balance (on for each account). The balance was off by $214.90. There were no transactions listed in the Pending Transaction tab. I clicked "Finish later" on the reconcile window.
Jumped over to USAA and see 2 transactions under "Pending". They total $214.90. The ending online balance matched the downloaded one. The transaction themselves did not download.
When this happens (yes, it's happened before), I just manually add the pending transactions (usually only 1 or two), reconcile, the totals match, done. The next day during OSU, the transaction come down, they match the ones I entered manually, click accept and done.
This time I wanted to see if it would "work itself out" by waiting until the next day. This morning, I ran OSU and the 2 transactions did come down (today, these were the only 2). I added them, reconciled and I was still off by $214.90. A quick check to make sure I didn't enter them twice (I didn't). Scroll up to the opening balance and see it's $214.90 (should be zero). Change the entry back to Zero and, once again, the totals match and are correct.
I run Quicken and OSU daily. Sometimes, more than once. Everything checked and balanced fine Monday so this popped up during yesterdays update.
I noted that although I have pending transaction ON, they don't always get downloaded. Not sure this is specific to USAA. I have only one other checking at a local bank to serve more as my "rainy day" money so there are very few regular transaction. For me, Pending transactions has been a bit hit or miss since it was introduced. Haven't seen this on other accounts. My use case is fairly straightforward so I just "workaround" some of the quirks.

Also note that based on the suggestions from several others, I have an entry in the memo field with the true opening balance on all my accounts.
