Quicken hangs with VPN active

There was a now closed discussion from February 2024 with this same description. This morning, I started Quicken on Proton VPN and it worked OK. A little while later, Quicken was not responding to mouse or keyboard. When I shut down the VPN, Quicken worked again. I'm sure that it was VPN related because it wanted me to sign on to Quicken with my user ID and password, an indicator from my past experience that Quicken is not seeing the internet connection. But I wasn't able to log on until I closed the VPN.

Using a VPN with Quicken can be tricky. While a VPN can help protect your online privacy, Quicken may have connectivity issues if the VPN routes traffic through a different country. Some users have reported that Quicken refuses to open their data files unless they manually turn off the VPN. Others have experienced login errors when trying to access their Quicken account while using a VPN.

If you need to use a VPN, you might try split tunneling, which allows Quicken to bypass the VPN while still protecting other internet traffic. However, some recent Quicken updates have caused issues even with split tunneling.
