Target Circle Card Prompting for Authentication Code

Quicken Windows Other Unconfirmed, Member ✭✭✭

I am a Quicken Windows Classic Premier user and over the past couple months or so, I have been prompted to receive a 6-digit security authentication code via email or text (MFA/2FA) when downloading transactions, which is highly annoying as it stops all of our other transactions from downloading. Also, it is the only card that does this every time I download. (I have read this is affecting Plaid Money as well. Interestingly, I only occasionally get prompted for the code when I log in using a web browser on Target.com.)

Is this related to the new site? Is there a way to disable this feature?

@James118 other users reported having to enter a code for 2FA each time they update their Target account with Quicken. This 2FA requirement is controlled by Target and I don't think there is a way to get around it.

Same here, I am on Mac but also being prompted for 2FA Code every single time. I don't understand why Quicken support seems to be ignoring this problem.

@Lazarus Long it is not within Quicken's control. Target is requiring the 2FA Code.

If you log into the Target Circle Card site, it does not prompt every time.

@CaliQkn I agree Target is requiring 2FA, but their web site does not require it every time.

@James118 the difference is they are allowing Quicken third party access to your account.

@CaliQkn Quicken and Target need to work together on a solution; it doesn't entirely rest on Target. Also, DirecTV has 2FA and doesn't require it every time.

@James118 Quicken and Target can certainly work together, but again, it is Target who ultimately decides how they implement the 2FA.

I have the same problem with target circle card, and what makes it even more annoying is that the code never arrives on my cell phone when logging in through Quicken, only through email will it work. On the Target website the cell phone 2FA does work.

Here is my solution for now. I don't always use my target card. When i do i will select (before the download at the prompt) to update quicken at that point. Problem solved til they get a better answer.
