Cannot re-connect to Best Buy credit card after restoring a previous datafile

Everything had been working fine, but I restored a datafile from yesterday so I could re-do the OSU. I restored the datafile by renaming the backup to *.QDF and opening it.

So after the restore, I started getting a CC-800 error trying to download transactions from the Best Buy (Citi) credit card account.

I went through the steps to fix the error. When it gets to the Sign On screen, I click Sign On and the browser opens to the Best Buy credit card site. I log in and click the Authorize button. This results in the error "Your Request Could Not Be Completed. We encountered a problem processing your request. Please try again later."

After retrying several times, the Best Buy account in Quicken had somehow become deactivated, so now the account's Online Services tab has the "Set Up Now..." button. I click "Set Up Now...", on the next screen I click Continue, on the next screen I click Sign In. Now, instead of opening the browser, it just displays the error

So... now what?

@MHSwizzleStick here are the steps to try -

    1. Make a backup of your data file before you start troubleshooting.
    2. Do a file validate and super validate.
    3. On the General tab in Account Details, blank out FI Name and Account Number.
    4. Instead of using "Set up now", use "Add Account" to set up online services. See if that makes a difference.
    5. If that still doesn't work, then try the "Copy File" process. This process cleans some file corruption and online connections and provides a clean copy of your data file to create new online connections. You will need to re-setup online connections for all your accounts in the new file.

Thanks. Validate and super validate didn't find any errors. I opened the validated file and did up to step 4. I got the same "Your request could not be completed" error on the Best Buy credit card website.

However, I created a new test datafile and tried to add the Best Buy credit card account to it. Same error, so I think there must be some problem on the Best Buy side.

@MHSwizzleStick If the test file didn't work as well, that might indicate that you tried the connection too many times and your logon is being blocked. Have you tried calling Best Buy Card Services or Citibank? They might be able to tell if your logon is suspended. Otherwise, I would just wait a day or so, and then try again.

Tried again this morning (on my regular datafile) and it worked. Thanks for your suggestions.

I guess I'm also wondering why things like this happen so often when I restore a saved datafile. In this case, in addition to the Best Buy credit card, I also had to reconnect several times with Regions bank. But I'll leave that question for another time.

    Thanks again.

@MHSwizzleStick getting CC-800 errors on multiple FIs after restoring a backup is a common issue. I think if you try step #5, it might help with the issues you've been having in the multiple and reoccurring CC-800 issues. Try the steps again, including #5.

Restoring from a good backup is key. Sometimes when a backup is made, the issues are inadvertently backed up as well. That is why the "Copy File" process is an important troubleshooting step.
