Delete financial institution

I'm using Windows R62.16 Build 27.1.62.16. During an update, Wells Fargo showed up as a financial institution. I do not have an account with Wells Fargo. Now, when opening Quicken, I see a flash screen stating I'm using a version of Quicken from Wells Fargo. How do I delete Wells Fargo?

@veege65 that splash screen doesn't really mean anything except you set up some Wells Fargo accounts at one point in time. But, if you say you don't have any accounts with Wells Fargo, then the question is how did they get there?
If you look in your account list (Ctrl-A) at all accounts, including hidden, do you see Wells Fargo in the "Financial Institution" column?
The next place to check is the Online Center. Click on Tools→Online Center. In the window, click on Options in the upper right, while holding Ctrl-Shift. Select "Troubleshooting" and then "FI Action Required". You will then see a small box with all your Financial Institutions listed. If you see "Wells Fargo" or Wells Fargo Advisors" listed, delete them. If you are unable to delete them then that means you have accounts set up with them.
See if that gets you back to the generic Quicken splash screen.
If not, then the surest way to get rid of that Wells Fargo splash screen is to uninstall and reinstall the Quicken program.

@veege65 I just noticed that you posted under "All things Canadian", but your profile indicates that you are using the US version of Quicken. I don't think it matters for finding a solution to your issue, but I think your post should be placed in the appropriate category. Please confirm and then the post can be moved if necessary.

- First, I never added Wells Fargo as a FI, so I have no idea where it came from. Never had an account with Wells Fargo. I followed the steps above. The splash screen is still present. Wells Fargo is no longer on the FI list. However, when I try to import a QFX file, the import screen indicates it will be imported to a Wells Fargo account that does not exist. Of course, the import does not happen.
- I'm attaching a PDF file with screen shots
- Wells Fargo is back on the FI list

@veege65 this is the strangest thing I have seen. How are you updating your account? Are you using One Step Update? Are you importing a QFX file? The note on your screen prints say "Right click on account to import this is what I get". When you right click on an account, what exactly are you doing?

- Yes, using One Step Update
- I am importing a QFX file
- Using ProperConvert to convert CSV file to QFX
- Right clicking on the account name (Savings in this case) under Banking
- this opens a menu and I select Edit/delete account
- this opens the Account Details box

@veege65 I am not sure why you are using ProperConvert to import a QFX file to Quicken. Your financial institution, Energy Credit Union, offers Express Web Connect to download transactions to Quicken.
Nevertheless, I know why you are having issues. ProperCovert uses the Wells Fargo Financial ID as a sample Financial ID and if you don't change it to the correct FI ID, the issues you are experiencing will happen.
The Financial Institution ID for Energy Credit Union MA, is 39381. You need to correct your setup in ProperConvert with this number.
But again, I am not sure why you are using ProperConvert to create QFX to upload when you have EWC available for your financial institution?

Using ProperConvert to convert CSV file to QFX
And that's most likely where the Wells Fargo stuff enters the picture. Wells Fargo does indeed provide a Splash screen image.
Please show us the first few lines of the generated QFX file, the header lines before the first transaction, the ones containing <FID> and <INTU.BID>
Also please tell us the name of the bank you're downloading the CSV file from so we can give you the correct FID and BID numbers to use instead, provided that your bank does indeed support QFX file download/import.

- OK. That explains a lot. I am trying to match up dates from my other FI's to the same date. Energy Credit only went back to 1/1/25 while others went back to 1/1/24. Obviously, I'm creating a lot of work for myself. Energy Credit allows CSV file as far back as 1/1/24. Does not download as QFX.

@veege65 unfortunately, it looks Energy Credit Union does not offer the ability to upload a QFX file. So that means no matter what you do to correct that QFX file, you will not be able to upload it.
They do offer EWC which means you can update your account in Quicken using OSU.

@veege65 this is the line with the improper Wells Fargo FI ID
<INTU.BID>3000
But again, your CU does not offer the ability to upload QFX files, so it won't work no matter if you update that number with the correct one.
You could though create a QIF file with ProperConvert to upload to Quicken .

- I have downloaded the account file from the bank as a CSV file
- then I open the file in ProperConvert
- then select QFX as the file type to convert to; should I use a QIF file?
- I didn't change anything, my fault not doing more reading
- what is the correct INTU.BID for Energy Credit Union MA
- the bank id I should be using is ID 39381; this would go in the box Bank ID
- this is the only time I'll be doing this import

@veege65 yes I think creating a QIF file from the CSV file is your best bet. There are different parameters for the QIF file but you shouldn't need to change the mapping, but if there is any place to put the exact account name I would do that as well.
Make sure to backup your data file before you attempt to upload the QIF file. When you do upload the file to Quicken, use File→File Import→QIF file.
