update balance action in missing

I have Quicken for business and personal (windows)

I need to manually adjust an account balance. I have exhausted community search and Googling for a solution. I click on the gear icon in the account actions and the action "update balance
is not longer there. I fixed another account a week ago, and now I can't do it. Any help would be appreciated.

@dalrad1 what type of account is it? Different account types have different options for reconciling and adjusting account balances.

It is a savings account (cash )

@dalrad1 a "savings" account type doesn't have that "Update Balance" feature, but a "cash" account type does. From your answer, I am really not sure what account type your account register is set up under.

If you do a "Ctrl-R", what happens?

When I do CTRL-R I get a message that the account may be out of date and needs downloaded

@dalrad1 go to Account Details and on the General Tab, what does it say for "Account type"?
