Hello there…thanks for commenting. I don't know the details regarding your query and my son, who is in Information Security and ?? set this up for me. I've forwarded your question to him for comment. However, back to my thoughts on why I have these issues in the first place, seems to be related from a quick check to ETFs traded on ARCA? I can't find any specific detail about how ARCA works on Quicken Canada or if there is any issue. Would you happen to know?
Performance question...

Windows Canada Classic Deluxe R62.18 MacBook Air M2
I have an ongoing, very frustrating experience when entering my investment transactions into Quicken. I don't believe they can just be downloaded in the Quicken Canada edition. I understand that certain symbols cause problems and will not download prices accurately because of where they are listed, and therefore at the end of the month when I try to reconcile the Brokers Statement to my own Portfolio Value Report, many manual edits need to be made to the price.
It seems like as soon as I go into the Security Detail View, the system grinds to a slow crawl. Took me a while to figure out that because I do this entry so instinctively after so many years, that the system was simply not keeping up with my keystrokes, and therefore data entered was not being captured properly, and I'd end up having to go back and painfully slow down my entry of the correct prices. This wouldn't be so bad if there was only one investment or two, but I have to be constantly double checking over four accounts.
I would be interested to know if there is some known issue with this.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

I don't experience the issues you have described. My system performance is fine in the Security Detail View and when reconciling monthly statements.
Why do you have to enter so many prices? Are you doing a very high volume of trades?

Hi there…thank you for your comment, although as of today I can't access my Quicken file…nothing to do with this issue. When I can open it again, I will try and determine the REAL reason, I'm in this conundrum. I've just failed to target the root cause, which I believe has something to do with the exchanges that are utilized but I've sorta fudged it for a while by updating those prices that don't update automatically by manual edits. Time to face reality. 😉

@willi1 ,
do I understand you correctly? You are running Quicken for Windows under a VM system on a MacBook?
Have you allocated enough RAM to both the VM and Windows? Should be more than 4GB or otherwise Windows will run out of available memory and suffer from excessive paging, slowing everything down.

Quicken does not connect to any exchange and it does not perform synchronization of prices. Quotes for securities are provided by a third party service, not the exchanges themselves and it is a simple download. Some quotes are continuously updated and others update daily (relative to trading days). Quicken's service provider provides quotes for most - but not all - securities.
Put another way, "ARCA" doesn't work in any way on Quicken Canada. Quicken gets price quotes from a third party security price data provider. There is no direct relationship to any market.
FWIW, I hold a few USA traded ETFs and I don't have any issues. However, I only hold the major ETFs - not obscure or low volume ones. I don't have any pricing issues with my ETFs.
I might be able to comment further if you list one or more of the FundServ codes and the fund names for the ETFs in question.

I'll just use one for now, maybe this discussion will give me a 'push'. In CDN account holdings listing, statement says Franklin International Eqi ETF, security symbol FLUR. I have Toronto as the Exchange. I understand that this trades on CBOE (prev NEO), and I think, at least on this security, this might have something to do with my issue. If you suggest that to be true I'll look at the others and determine the exchange. But, bottom line from what I've scouted seems to mean anything traded here would have to be updated manually…
Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

I thought I'd check another one. BMO Discount Bond ZDB also doesn't show up on Quickens Security search. If I just enter ZBD and Toronto exchange, again, no timely info, but doesn't appear to be related to CBOE/Neo issue.

While I still don't have a clear understanding of your issue or why you think it is related to the exchange that securities trade on, the Franklin ETF you referenced is not included in Quicken's price data feed. Yes, the price for this security will have to updated manually. Conversely, the BMO Discount Bond ZDB is in Quicken's data feed - see below:
You seem to be under the impression that there is some issue related to particular exchanges. I believe that is incorrect. Prices are provided by a third party that provides price data, not by the exchange itself.
In my experience, most of the larger ETFs are included in Quicken's price data feed. That Franklin ETF you referenced is very small. For example, if you used XIN or XEF or such instead, then you would get price data.

I want to clarify a comment I made above. When I said that "ARCA doesn't work in any way in Quicken", what I meant is that Quicken doesn't connect you directly to ARCA. I wasn't intending that no securities traded on ARCA have prices available in Quicken - I believe some do.
