New archive is GARBAGE

I just want my current file to have ONLY current year's transactions, NOT PREVIOUS YEARS OF RECONCILED TRANSACTIONS. Why did you change this?????? I have a file with 8 years of transactions in it. I finally decided to trim it down and now this? I tried every possible iteration to do this, both creating a template and archiving. The result is the same. If I wanted to revisit those previous years, I would open the old file!

@emily Quicken's Year-End Copy function creates a copy of your data file and removes reconciled, non-investment, and non-transfer transactions that are dated earlier than the current year. However, investment transactions and uncleared transactions are retained regardless of their age.

Quicken doesn't require or recommend archiving data at the end of the year, as keeping older transactions allows for comparison reports on income and expenses from previous years. The feature was originally designed when storage limitations made it necessary to store only one year at a time, but modern systems no longer require this.
