Why Quicken ignores some QIF transactions

I have created an application that inputs Excel files from various credit card companies and banks and created QIF files.

I seem to have a problem importing bank transactions, such as payments to credit card companies. For example, if i have a transaction with L[American Express], it is ignored and not imported. There are no errors or warnings.

i exported some transactions from Quicken to a QIF file with some of these transactions, changed the date, and tried to reimport them. they were also ignored. So, Quicken is ignoring transactions in the QIF file that it created itself.

What is going on? what can i do to make sure these transactions are imported?

What setting do you have in the QIF import dialog for transfers?

IMHO, you should be able to download transactions from most US banks by activating the accounts and then using One Step Update.
Alternatively, most US banks support downloading of QFX files from their websites.
The roundabout way of downloading CSV files, converting them to QIF and importing those should not normally be necessary.

If you have issues with transfer transactions not being generated correctly:

For best results manually enter transfer transactions into your register BEFORE you download transactions from the bank which contain the transfer confirmations. For recurring transfers like credit card payments use scheduled reminders and enter them at least a day or two before the due date.

Be sure to use distinct Payee Names for each transfer / credit card payment to avoid confusing Quicken - memorized payee entries.

That takes the guesswork out of the downloading process. Because a correctly entered transfer transaction already exists in your account registers, the program should just match the downloaded transfer transaction to the existing one in both accounts.

What happens if you uncheck special handling for transfers?
