Drop down menu not working when trying to reset online account
When trying to reset an online account, the dialog that comes up with the "Link to Existing" frequently doesn't work. Sometimes the account Quicken wants to link to isn't correct. In the past, I was able to select the down arrow next to "Link to Existing" and then select the account that I wanted Quicken to link. Now, I get no dropdown menu when selecting the "Link to Existing" option.

@MichaelV1956 that happens when you "Reset Account". Instead of resetting, try deactivating and reactivating the account. Before you reactivate, blank out the Financial Institution Name and Account Number.

I have 3 accounts at one financial institution. When I try to reset the account, all 3 accounts show up in the reset dialog. Quicken always tries to link 2 different checking accounts to the same account in Quicken. Over to the right, there is a dropdown menu allowing you to choose which Quicken account to link to. I was always able to open this dropdown menu and choose the correct Quicken account to link. For some unknown reason, the dropdown menu no longer works. The arrow is still there suggesting a drop-down menu is available, but no amount of clicking will get it to open.

@MichaelV1956 what steps are you taking to reset the three accounts? I just want to make sure that we are talking about the same thing when you say "reset".

In Quicken, I select the gear icon in the upper right, then select Account Details. Select Online Services, and from that menu, you can select Reset Account in the Account Details dialog.

@MichaelV1956 got it. Instead of doing that, if you deactivate and reactivate your accounts, you will be able to ensure that your accounts are connected properly.
- Make a copy of your data file, just in case.
- In Account Details, deactivate your three accounts by clicking "Deactivate" in the Online Services tab.
- In Account Details, blank out FI Name and Account Numbers in the General tab for the three accounts.
- Reactivate the accounts by clicking Tools and selecting "Add Account". Type in the name of your financial institution.
- Go through each screen of the activation process and enter your user name and password when asked.
- After entering your user name and password successfully, you should see a list of your accounts with your financial institution. You should be now able to select "Link to existing" and appropriately link your accounts with your FI to the accounts on Quicken.

Okay. I'll give it a try. Just don't understand why something that used to work just fine was apparently deactivated.

Ok, deactivating the account seems to be also deactivating ALL my accounts at the financial institution. If I deactivate/reactivate one account, the other two seem to get disconnected. I still think there is a bug in the current release where the dropdown menu is no longer working for the Reset Account selection. When I used reset in the past, I could select which account to link to for all 3 accounts from the Account Details dialog. As I said before, the pull down arrow (which indicates a dropdown menu is there) still shows up, but the dropdown menu can no longer be accessed. I'm using Windows 11 Pro Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100. Quicken version is R63.21 Version 27.1.63.21. I believe this bug should be reported to the Quicken development team for resolution.

@MichaelV1956 as far as I can remember when an Reset Account was performed, it never allowed you to change the link with the FI.

It did. Select Edit Account Details from the gear icon menu, select Online Services, then Reset Account. On the right side, where it lists the action to take, there is a pull down arrow that allowed you to enter a dropdown menu. Listed in that menu, were your Quicken accounts. This allowed you to select the account that you wanted Quicken to link to.

I think I'm only seeing this problem because I have multiple accounts with the same financial institution.

@CaliQkn Well, it seems your instructions were spot on. Quicken support gave me the exact same instructions. Still don't know why the dropdown menu quit working when selecting reset account.

Okay. Something weird is going on with my bank accounts. I keep having to reset at least two of the accounts every time I try to download to quicken. Sometimes the reset fixes the problem, and sometimes it doesn't. Exporting the data to a .QFX file works, but I shouldn't be having to do this every time I want to download transactions. I contacted my bank, and they say Quicken is a third party product and they don't offer support. I tried to explain to them that theirs was the only financial institution that I have that is having this problem. Didn't help.
