I have Quicken Classic for Windows installed on my WIN10 OS. It has been working for several months. For some reason it has started crashing every time I attempt to login. Nothing has changed on my end except Microsoft pushed through an update a few weeks ago.

Please tell me what I need to do to fix this problem. I can no longer use my Quicken Classic for Windows.

I cannot update my OS to WIN11 due to the age of my PC.

Thank you.

Quicken Classic is installed on my WIN10 PC on my harddrive. I run updates to the Quicken Classic version regularly. I backup my files every time I download my financial info into Quicken.

I store all my Quicken files on my harddrive.

@EdConsumer what Quicken release are you currently on. The latest is R63.21. I know you currently cannot log into Quicken, but what troubleshooting steps have you been able to do? Have you contacted Quicken Support?

Here are some things to try to regain access to Quicken and your data file -

    1. Run a data file validate. When you click on the Quicken icon, hold the Ctrl key. If Quicken opens to a blank screen, Click on File → Validate and Repair File → "Browse". Search and select your Quicken data file. Then select "Validate file" and click "OK". After the validate completes, review the validate log for any error messages. If you are not logged automatically into Quicken, try logging on.
    2. Uninstall and reinstall the Quicken app. Sign into your Quicken Account and click on "Quicken for Windows" under Download Quicken, to get the most recent install file. You can also download it here - How do I download Quicken from Quicken.com to install or reinstall it? | Quicken
    3. Download and install the latest manual patch from here - https://www.quicken.com/support/update-and-patch-20182019-release-quicken-windows-subscription-product/

Hopefully, one of these troubleshooting steps will help you regain access to Quicken. If you continue to have issues, I would suggest contacting Quicken Support - https://www.quicken.com/support/search-opt/

This sounds like it might be related to Quicken's use of Microsoft Edge Webview2. Quicken never has acknowledged that it REQUIRES Microsoft Edge Webview2 to be installed and current for Quicken to operate correctly. I had a similar problem after an update, and, after much investigation, found this undisclosed dependence. If you don't use Edge and/or don't update it often (I don't use Edge, so I turned off the updates), you can fall into this mysterious trap. Might be worth updating Edge to see if that helps.

Here's a link to my post regarding the discovery of this: https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7938416/r51-12-asks-me-to-check-my-internet-connection-and-try-again-but-it-is-just-fine#latest
