@Leverh02 this issue point to a problem with Windows.
Error code 1618 during a Quicken installation typically means that another installation process is already running on your system. This is a Windows Installer error, not specific to Quicken, and it’s officially known as
ERROR_INSTALL_ALREADY_RUNNING
.Here are some things to try to resolve this issue:
- Check for Active Installers
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
to open Task Manager. - Look for any processes like
msiexec.exe
or other installer-related tasks. - If found, right-click and select End Task.
- Press
- Run the Quicken Installer Again
- Make sure no other installations or updates are running in the background.
- Use a Clean Boot (if needed)
- This starts Windows with minimal drivers and startup programs:
- Press
Windows + R
, typemsconfig
, and hit Enter. - Under the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items.
- Restart your PC and try installing Quicken again.
- Ensure Windows Installer Service is Running
- Press
Windows + R
, typeservices.msc
, and press Enter. - Find Windows Installer, right-click, and choose Start (or Restart if already running).
