Quicken is freezing on my new Lenovo. Worked fine, relatively, with my HP spectre with same OS. Appears is a known problem for a while. Losing patience with Quicken, may start looking for alternatives. In meantime any insight is welcome.

If you haven't done so already, please do the following actions:

    1. Even if you are on the latest software level already, download and install the latest Manual Patch file from  https://www.quicken.com/support/update-and-patch-20182019-release-quicken-windows-subscription-product  to ensure your Quicken software is up to date and correctly installed.
    2. Reboot Windows. Let Windows fully wake up and do whatever it wants to do after booting up … 15 minutes or so.
    3. Start Quicken. Do not run One Step Update.
    4. Run BOTH Validate and Supervalidate to attempt to repair your Quicken data file.
    5. If nothing helps, try to restore your Quicken data file from an Automatic or Manual backup taken just prior to the problems first occurring.  https://www.quicken.com/support/how-backup-or-restore-your-quicken-data

    Validate and Supervalidate instructions
First save a backup file prior to performing these steps
    Validate:
    • Click File
    • Select Validate and Repair File...
    • Select Validate File
    • If the data file contains investment accounts also select "Rebuild investing lots".
    • If you suspect that a damaged Quotes Price History causes your problems, also select "Correct investing price history" functions "Delete" or "Repair and Rebuild".
    • Click OK
    • Review the Data Log. Anything interesting in there, worthwhile posting here?
    • Close Quicken, leave it closed for about 30 secs
    • Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

    Super Validate:
    • Click File
    • Press and hold both CTRL and Shift keys while you click Validate and Repair File...
    • Select Supervalidate File
    • Click OK
    • Review the Data Log. Anything interesting in there, worthwhile posting here?
    • Close Quicken, leave it closed for about 30 secs
    • Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

Nope, freezes still, went through as described. Did not super validate. Freezes still when adjusting columns, clicking from account to account. If fact it froze after validation and had to restart computer without being able to shut down quicken as it was frozen, even task manager would not close it. Not good….thanks for any additional insight.

FYI: Functions properly with no freezing on my 5 year old HP Spectre. Specifications below. May either try starting over on my new computer or perhaps cease using Quicken as this may be the last straw for me.

If Quicken loops ("freezes") for a long time and you killed the task or it crashes during Validate, your Quicken data file has been damaged beyond repair.
Restore your data file from a backup taken before the problem first occurred and take it from there.

Ensure that Windows is not trying to do any Windows Updates or automatic reboots while you're trying to work with Quicken.

Thanks, but again the file works file on my HP Spectre as indicated above. I may try to start over creating a new file. But I am also reconsidering my use of Quicken at this time. Stay safe.

If it works fine on one computer, but doesn't work on another, could it be a problem with your Windows system installation or an outdated or broken system driver?

Please review this recent discussion for a possible solution.

Well, works on the 5 year old computer with the spec listed above in thread. The HP Spectre. The new one, Lenovo Yogi, has current software and drivers I would assume. Specs also above. Strange but true. I suspect compatibly issues with newer computer for some reason.
