using same register for two different checking accounts.

Using Mac Quicken. Reconciled several months on one of my accounts and was trying to reconcile one month from the other (newer) account. Quicken is showing a PRIOR BALANCE ADJUSTMENT) of -$119.60 that I just do not understand! After manually reconciling all debits and credits, totaling all debits and its related transaction counts using a spreadsheet (Excel), the Quicken Mac reconcile screen shows a difference of the same amount as that prior balance adjustment. How should I proceed?

ps (will shortly close older account, so register will only reflect one bank account. When I completed reconciliation of previous months on older account, difference was always 0 and I've verified that there is no entry within register that reflects mystery amount of $119.60

Quicken is designed (and its entire purpose is) to house all your various financial accounts from various banks together all in a single file.

So, I am confused: is this the same checking account somehow broken into two accounts, or did you open a new checking account (new #, etc.) and are now are having problems reconciling it?

I am not there to see what is going on, but a wild guess is that this $119.60 is a some form of opening balance adjustment in the new account.

    1. If the running balance in the new account is correct, then you likely need that adjustment. You just need to reconcile it so that it so it doesn't impact future reconciles. Simple fix; ask and we'll explain.
    2. If the running balance is off by that amount, then you likely can delete it as it is an errant transaction.

Enough for now-please provide more details. Thanks!
