Validation reports missing stock splits

When I run validation on the file, there are no inconsistencies, but there's a bunch of messages about missing splits of various stocks, for example

Quicken has found 1 stock split(s) for account "Schwab", security "Alphabet Inc. - Class C Capital Stock", on 8/31/2020 that might be missing.

But all transactions of this security are dated later that 8/21/2020: 9 shares were bought on 5/23/2023, got several dividends (not reinvested), and sold 9 shares on 7/15/2025. So I'm wondering what gives, and if I'm supposed to do anything to make the message go away.

@vadimrapp This can happen even if your share balances are correct—especially if the split was manually entered with a slightly different date or in a different account.

Here are some things to try to get rid of those missing split messages in the data file validate log -

• Enter a Dummy Split: Go to the date Quicken mentions (e.g., 6/6/2022) and manually enter a 1:1 stock split for the security in question. This won’t affect your share balance but may satisfy Quicken’s validation check.
• Match the Real-World Date: If you already entered the split but used a different date than the actual event, edit the transaction to match the real-world split date. Quicken is picky about this.
• Check the Account: Make sure the split is recorded in the same account where Quicken expects it. If it’s in a different account, you might need to duplicate the entry in the correct one.
• Ignore It (If Harmless): If your balances and reports are accurate, and the message is just a nuisance, you might choose to ignore it. But if it’s causing slowness or blocking other processes, it’s worth fixing.
• Restore and Revalidate: If the message persists and seems tied to deeper file issues, try restoring a backup from before the message appeared and run Validate again.
