Windows Quicken Classic - Hanging/OSU Freezing/CC-501 Errors

Greg T
Greg T Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭

When starting Quicken, I get the normal ding-ding-ding opening tones and then a blank window. After a several minutes, Quicken will may start to appear. If I click on the blank window I receive the popup "Quicken Windows is not responding"

This is what I have done to troubleshoot:

  1. reboot
  2. did the manual update install
  3. tried on two different computers
  4. at one point, I was able to get to the point that I could create a new, test file but that would not continue.

There is definitely something wrong this morning. Mine took 10 minutes to complete and then give me errors on 90% of my accounts.

Same for me - took 10 minutes to do One Step Update and then reported a failure on all my banks. Seems like no clear way to 'escape out' or stop the One Step Update and you have to wait it out.

One Step Update is hanging / freezing. I was forced to log out of my Quicken ID and then resign into my Quicken ID in order to reopen my Quicken file.

Now my One Step Update is freezing and I have to close the file by using Task Manager.

This issue is on Quicken for Windows 11

Today I was asked to log onto Quicken.com when my file opened. I finally was able to log in. When downloading transactions, it keep hanging up so I have to manually end task. It downloaded Vanguard but no other banking. I have Chase, Amex, Barclays.

I am getting a CC-501 when trying to download my credit card transactions from Elan this morning. This was working fine yesterday. Please fix it.

    I am on version R64.29.

When I tried to open, update failed and I was told to sign out and log in as a different user. When I try that using my original sign in info, I get a sign in failure. I guess the problem is not with us?

This morning I received CC-501 error on all bank/credit card accounts except for one credit card account. I also have another credit card and checking account with the same bank that did receive the CC-501 error. The Update Summary for the successful account shows 8/20/2025 9:05am, today is 9/24/2025. What's going on with the one step update? Yesterday was just fine.

Same here. The OSU finally timed out and I got a CC-501 error on all my accounts. Closed and reopened Quicken and tried again and it is still doing the same behavior.

I'm using the same version of Quicken on Windows 11, getting the same error for Schwab, Key Bank, Ally and Citibank (basically everything, nothing is updating). I assume it's a Quicken server error that will be corrected shortly.

My habit is to look for issues before I start Quicken each day.

    Thanks for posting here.

For me it was a matter of letting the patch get applied… it took about 15 ? minutes. That got me past this issue, but now I'm getting CC-501 for Fidelity. This cut-over isn't going well.

Same here. Task Manager couldn't even close it. Had to restart my computer.

Tried again. Eventually finished … sort of. Fidelity updated, but every other account gives me the CC-501 "unknown error" notice. 4 accounts at 3 different financial institutions.

Still using zzz-Fidelity Investments - DC.

Still on Windows 10. Quicken Classic Deluxe.

Yep. On the second try, OSU eventually completed with EWC+ accounts throwing CC-501.

EWC+ includes Fidelity, yes? If so, it just takes a while to get to the point where it gives up and provides the CC-501 error.

Most of mine were OK, but Ally Bank and Broadview Credit Union continue with the error. Given there's a few new posts today (various FI) with the CC-501 it's probably a quicken/intuit server issue, IMO. Not seeing any global DNS Denial attacks or anything in the news (ie: major "thing" goes down on the internet, everything slow/borked, etc.)
