Improve the functionality of 'Seperate' Accounts in Budget Planner

You can currently include 'Seperate' accounts as an option when creating a budget. Unfortunately, 'Actual' amounts are not carried through on the budget as they are with all your standard accounts. The addition of this functionality would be very helpful in creating budget scenarios

Why do you mark accounts as "Separate" when, in reality, you want them included in all your calculations?

Isn't the idea behind Separate Accounts to keep them separate from all your other accounts?

Can you give us a usage example of such an account?

UKR… I maintain several accounts for my elderly mother as 'seperate'. It works well because I can pay her bills from her accounts and keep her financial picture updated without otherwise impacting my financial profile, networth calculation etc.

As we sadly do end of life planning, and budget for 2026 and beyond, I am looking at a "what if' budget plan, that would include some some expense categories included in her 'seperate' accounts. She has property and assets that I will inherit and assume responsibilty for maintaining. It would be an easy way to pull these related expenses into a plan. 😐️

Until there's some development in that direction, which could take quite a while … have you considered moving your mother's accounts into a separate Quicken data file?
Although not as convenient than having everything in one data file, this would allow you to maintain her data and perform your planning tasks completely isolated from your own data.
Your mother being a separate individual taxpayer, a separate data file would also make it possible to transfer tax related information into your tax software, without getting your own data mixed in by mistake.

Sorry for your situation. We always recommend keeping different persons' accounts in separate QWin data files so calculations don't merge separate financial entities. If you can move mom's accounts into a different file without too much pain, that might be the best way to proceed.
