Popup error message when launching Tax Planner

After initial launch of Quicken, when I go to the Tax Planner and launch it, I get a popup message saying: "Please wait while Windows configures Quicken". The popup only has a single button "Cancel". Another popup displays with the message "There are Quicken components currently open and cannot be uninstalled. Please close Quicken.".

When I try to get out of this error dialog, it eventually comes back and says "<userid>\AppData\Local\Temp\pftB244.tmp\DISK1\Quicken.msi The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

I verified this file does not exist on my computer.

I can consistently reproduce this same error on Quicken versions R65.15 and R65.17.

When I revert back to Quicken version R64.30 this issue does not appear.

Any thoughts?

UPDATE: I decided to uninstall Quicken and re-install. That appears to have fixed the issue 🙂

    I experienced the EXACT same issue you described (launching the Tax Planner) when updated to R65.15. I didn't uninstall, rather just reinstalled and that fixed it. There are many reported .msi issues; so strange. I didn't bother with R65.17 and instead reverted back to my stable April's R62.16. We'll see what the next one brings.

    I have the same exact issue as describe by Richard!! Is the only solution to correct this issue is to uninstall and reinstall Quicken Premier?? Is anyone at Quicken looking to address this issue, caused by November 2025 Update???

    @Randy_D , I didn't uninstall. I just reinstalled the patch it and that resolved it for me. But your mileage may vary so if it does not work for you, then go for the uninstall route. Let us know what worked for you.

    Adding: Here is where you get the latest patch. And if you prefer to revert back to an older version, here is where you get the older patches.
