Converting from Q-Mac to W-Mac. Issues with commas and decimal separator

Hi everyone

I’ve created a QXF file to transfer the data back from Q-Mac because I’m not satisfied with the Q-Mac version.

It appears that all the figures are multiplied by 100, as the decimals in the Q-Mac export file are not being recognized. How can I fix this?

I assume you're running Quicken for Windows on your Mac under some VM like Parallels.
Does Q Windows correctly recognize your non-US format for dates and decimals?

If not, set your Mac back to using a US region / date and decimals format. Reboot the Mac, reboot the VM and Windows. Recreate the QXF file and see if that works any better.
If it does, set the date and decimals format back to the way you like it.

It's quite possible that Q Windows does not properly respect Windows System settings for Region, date or decimal format. You can try this, but it may not work in all functions within Q Windows:

Close Quicken and edit the file C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Config\QUICKEN.INI
Look for two entries, "sDecimal" and "sThousand" and change their values to what you prefer. Save the file, then restart Quicken. This will change the display in some places, like reports, but not everywhere.

Also please see this Idea discussion about making changes to Q Windows with respect to international date and currency formats. Please vote to make it possible for this idea to be implemented at some point in time before we're all old and grey.

As you suggested, I changed the international settings on my Mac and then recreated the QXF file. The import went smoothly and most accounts now match the balances on my Mac. I should mention that I'm actually running two versions of Quicken on two different computers.

The issue now is that the balances are almost correct, but I see a strange currency symbol next to them — something like “à_”. In Quicken for Windows I can’t find a way to change the currency for a specific account, even though I set “Euro” as my home currency.

What feature level do you use in Q Windows? Starter Edition, Deluxe, Premier or Business & Rental?

In Deluxe or higher there is a Currency List, available from the Tools Menu.
Look up the Euro currency entry and see if the € - symbol displays correctly. If not, try changing it. Pressing the Alt-key while typing 0128 on the numeric keypad should show €
