Registers open to random dates rather than the most recent date (Q Mac)
I am now using Quicken on a Mac after decades on Windows. I am noticing an annoying difference with the Mac version having the registers open to random dates when they are all set to either ascending or descending date (doesn't appear to matter). There are a lot of things in the Mac version that are cleaner, but what is the issue with the register not opening reliably in the most recent date? Is this a fix that is expected, or is there just some user shortcut to quickly get to the top or bottom of the register.

This has been a randomly occurring problem for a long time. I think it's been hard for the Quicken team to reproduce.
There is a solution which works sometimes. Go to the register that's giving you trouble and scroll to the most recent transaction. Make any minor change to this transaction (such as adding a character to the Memo). Then immediately quit Quicken. As I mentioned, this has been known to sometimes fix the issue, but it doesn't always work.
In the absence of that working, I will point out that there is a menu item View > Go To Today with associated keyboard shortcut Cmd-T. That will at least get you to the most recent transition without having to scroll interminably or take your hands off the keyboard.

Thanks Rick, I'll try that tomorrow. For the Quicken team, I have a large file that came in from originally a Window PC. I have to use Quicken Simple investing because of too many investment transactions which essentially blow up the file size (dividends). I don't know if the later is part of the problem.

There's something in your reply I'm not understanding… If your investment account is on Simple Tracking, then you will not see a transaction register. So I don't see how this affects on which date a register opens. Are you referring to non-investment accounts? If so, then the setting for a Simple Tracking investment account would be extremely unlikely to affect a non-investment account.
