Financial accounts borked with latest Mac version

So I updated the app a couple of days ago and then updated my accounts.

Found that for one of my eTrade accounts, it listed a MM fund twice, with two different balances, one including a recent transaction and one not including it so two balances from different dates.

So my eTrade account balance as displayed by Quicken was too much.

This problem has occurred with other accounts so I would delete it and re-add the accounts, because you can't edit a connected account.

OK, it added the eTrade account and it had the portfolio correct. However, there was another eTrade account, an ESPP account.

I tried adding it and the first couple of times, it would show both accounts available to add to Quicken but after finishing, they wouldn't be connected!

So I kept trying and trying and something changed. For one thing, my eTrade account has 2FA and the first few times of trying to re-add the connections, Quicken prompted for the 2FA code.

And then at some point, it stopped prompting for the 2FA code and it showed only the brokerage account available to be added to Quicken, no sign of the ESPP account at all.

A couple of days later I went to Quicken support chat. He had me restore a recent backup file. The process required resetting my Quicken Cloud and I had to reconnect several of my financial institution accounts.

But eTrade had the same problem, only one account available for adding.

In the mean time, I examined the reconnected accounts in the restored file and it had all kinds of problems, many instances of duplicated assets so it way overstated my balances several times.

I went back to my original file since the restored one had so many errors.

I had to reset the Quicken Cloud again and now, I had to reconnect most of my financial accounts. This time at least, it was okay, no duplicate assets in the portfolios.

However, the problem of being unable to add the ESPP account from eTrade persists.

So I thought about adding an offline account, since the ESPP account holds only one stock. Offline account, they let you choose the type of account so I choose brokerage. But instead of having you enter a stock symbol, it has you add a cash value.

Obviously not very useful for an account holding an equity.

Pretty sure that older versions of Quicken let you set up offline accounts manually but I'm not sure. It prompting you to set a cash value is one thing but that value is fixed as far as I can see. Once you add an offline account with a cash value, you can't edit that value again later, as the stock price and overall value of the offline brokerage account changes.

Oh well I had renewed my subscription for a year but a year from now, I'm going to have to look for something else.

All these updates and it breaks usability.

    Helo @hyyqckn,

Thank you for sharing this detailed account of your experience with this.

Unfortunately, ESPP's are not currently supported in Quicken for Mac. There is an existing Idea Thread that you can vote on. This idea has already been sent over to our product development team, and it is "Under Consideration" at this time.

    Hope this helps!

Well considering that I had the ESPP account for the better part of 3 years I've had the Quicken subscription, that's a rather strange claim to make.

I guess I won't be continuing my subscription.
