ReInstalling Quicken Classic

I got back from vacation and started working on my finances but Quicken HAD to update my Classic. So I let it [my biggest mistake!] and as usual it wouldn't restart without my finagling with it. This time, however, no amount of trying would restart the program. And I keep getting this message: Only one instance of the Quicken installer can run at a time. Close all instances of the Quicken installer and try again. (if the problem persists, restart your machine and try again.) I only have one instance of the installer and have restarted the PC several times. I need help.

By close all instances, did you stop them in Task Manager?

Backup your quicken file(s). The uninstall should not remove your data file but backup anyway. Then uninstall Quicken using the native Windows tools. Reboot. Open Task Manager and verify there are no Quicken services/tasks running.

Download Quicken and install. Open and login with your Quicken ID. Then open your data file.
