While Apple does currently support Web Connect, I agree that having more connection methods for this financial institution would be great!

What do you mean, they support Web Connect?

Are you saying it is possible to download Apple Card transactions into Quicken now without the manual export/import?

No. Web Connect is just downloading a QFX file from your FI and importing it into Quicken
