This problem is longstanding - downloading transactions from RBC Royal Bank is a huge pain in the neck. I don’t have any similar problems with any other financial institution.
- I have 2FA enabled on my RBC Royal Bank account. Turning this off is unacceptably dangerous due the obvious security risks.
- I have the RBC mobile app on my iPhone and use this for authentication
- When i update my RBC accounts from Quicken, here is what happens:
- I get a notification on my RBC mobile app asking me to approve the login
- I approve, but get an error from the mobile app that the request has timed out
- I get a popup window in Quicken asking how i want to authenticate to RBC
- I select the mobile app
- I get another notification on the mobile app, and approve it
- I get another popup window in Quicken with an option to select “Done"
- I select Done and OK, and the transactions finally download
Note that if I opt to skip the connection, RBC locks my account, and I have to go through a process to unlock it!
This is nuts.
Has anyone else run into this, and is there a way to streamline the process? One thing i just noticed is that when i go to “Manage authorized applications” in my RBC account, nothing is listed…
thanks
