Downloading and installing a .qfx file into my credit card account

I am having so much trouble with Quicken this weekend. I made a new account for my existing credit card. I'm trying to download the statement that just closed out in February. I am downloading the statement from the bank. I have tried countless times to import that file .qfx into my account in Quicken. Nothing happens! Is this service discontinued? I don't see anything posted online or at the bank as it is still offered. I have done extensive troubleshooting. If there is anyway to get this done, I would really appreciate hearing from you.

To better understand the situation, please provide a bit more information.

Which financial institution are you working with?
Do you receive an error message when trying to import the QFX file into Quicken? If so, please share the exact error message you see.
What connection method is currently set for the account? (It may not be connected, but it’s helpful to confirm.)

To check the connection type, please follow these steps:

Open the account in question.
Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of the account.
Select Edit Account Details.
Click the Online Services tab.

On that screen, you will see the Connection Method listed on the left side.

Once I have this information, I’ll be able to better guide you on the next steps.

Hi Laura, Thanks for writing back. I created a new account for my charge card which is at First National Bank of Omaha. I wanted to start with my February statement. So I downloaded the statement from the bank. It was a .qfx file. (I've done this several times before over the years with other accounts)

So, I went to the menu in Quicken to File Import/Export, selected import and my charge card account. When I hit enter, nothing happened. I tried this several times. I troubleshooted with a couple different ways suggested online, but nothing worked.

After several unsuccessful attempts, I deleted the account and re-created a new account for the charge card, and I just allowed it to download everything (over 350 entries!). I deleted everything I did not need until I got to the February statement. So I made everything work in that way.

But, from my previous experience with Quicken in my past, the .qfx file should have imported. I've been using Quicken for a very long time. Do you know if anything changed with the import function? I thought in my research I read that it is no longer going to open .qfx files. Did I read that right?

I have a WiFi connection 1 GB from Verizon. I never received any error messages while trying to import the file.

That’s great news! I’m glad to hear that your troubleshooting steps resolved the problem.

Regarding .QFX files, they should generally import your account information as expected. Occasionally, other factors can prevent a file from importing, such as a duplicate account, account or data file corruption, an unsupported account type, or changes on the bank’s website or server. In those cases, the solution is to troubleshoot the issue until it’s resolved, as you successfully did.

As for changes to how Quicken handles .QFX file imports, there have been no recent updates to the application itself. Support for downloads can vary by financial institution—some banks may choose to stop providing Web Connect (.QFX) files, and they will notify customers directly if that occurs.
