Importing an OFX file
For a number of years I have been plagued by the fact the the Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Untion has not support one step update for the VISA card I have with that bank. When they first stopped supporting OSU, they did provide a QFX downlooad so, although I could do OSU for my checking and savings accounts, I had to download and import the QFX file for the VISA account. Then in Feb '23 they stopped providing the QFX files so I have been entering the data by hand in a separate data file.
Recently they started providing an OFX download. I finally got up the courage to try importing that and I found that I could if I modified it by
- Changing <ORG> from "Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union" to "Mid-Atlantic FCU Credit Card"
- Filling in the blank <FID> with 02981
- Adding <INTU.BID>02981
- Changing the file extension from ofx to qfx
The first three changes I got by looking at an old QFX file download.
One thing missing is <AVAILBAL> near the end of the file, but since I haven't had that since Feb '23 I think I can live without it.
Does this seem like a reasonable/safe thing to do?
Thanks
Jim
