Wealthfront Cash Account "Categories" Not Syncing/Displaying in Quicken Classic

Issue Summary

Quicken Classic correctly connects to Wealthfront Cash Accounts via Quicken Connect/App-Specific Passwords, but fails to recognize or display Wealthfront's "Categories" feature (sub-buckets within a single cash account).

Detailed Behavior

  • Sync Accuracy: Quicken accurately reflects the "Primary" balance of the Wealthfront Cash account.
  • The "Ghost" Balance: If funds are fully moved from the main balance into Wealthfront Categories (e.g., "Emergency Fund," "Taxes"), Quicken displays a $0.00 balance for the account.
  • Missing Data: Quicken does not see, create, or display the sub-categories as sub-accounts or separate registers, effectively "hiding" the user's total cash position.
  • Context: Wealthfront Categories are not separate accounts (no unique routing/account numbers); they are virtual partitions within one account.

Comparison: Current vs. Expected

Feature

Current Quicken Behavior

Expected/Desired Behavior

Balance

Only shows "Main" balance; shows $0 if fully categorized.

Should show the Total Account Value (Main + All Categories).

Visibility

Categories are invisible.

Categories should sync as Sub-Accounts or Tags/Categories.

Transactions

Transfers to categories appear as "Missing" or external withdrawals.

Internal transfers should be recognized as Account Transfers.

Environment & Troubleshooting

  • Product: Quicken Classic 8.5.1 (macOS/Windows)
  • Connection Method: Quicken Connect with App-Specific Password.
  • Steps Taken: Reset Cloud Data, validated file, and recreated the connection. The issue persists across all files as it appears to be a data mapping limitation between the Wealthfront API and Quicken’s aggregator.

The Ask

Is there a roadmap for Quicken to support the Wealthfront API's category data? Without this, users who utilize Wealthfront’s automated savings features cannot use Quicken for an accurate view of their liquid assets.
