backups don't seem to go all the way

I was doing my bank statement and made a mistake, so I downloaded my backup which is before this statement. The correction was there, even though I went back before the error in the starting amount.? Thanks. Bruce

    Hi @Bruce Leavitt,

Thank you for reaching out. Based on what you’re describing, it would help to narrow down whether the “correction” is coming from the file itself or being reintroduced through a download or sync process.

Could you confirm a couple of things?

    • Was the change made manually, through a bank download, or during reconciliation?
After restoring the backup, did you immediately reconnect to your bank or allow Mobile/Web Sync to run?
    • Did you restore the file as a new copy or overwrite the existing file?

For reference, the correct restore steps are:

    • Go to File > View/Restore Backups....
    • Browse the Local and Online Backups tabs to find the backup file you want to restore. The Quicken backup file has the extension .QDF-Backup.
    • Select the file to restore and click Restore Backup.
    • Next, you will be given the option to overwrite the file you have open or to create a copy of the backup you're restoring.

Once we know how the change is being reintroduced, we can better determine why it’s still appearing after the restore.

    Looking forward to your reply.
