Setting up LPL investment account, error already used account name
Windows 11 pro 25H2
Quicken R66.28
Build 27.1.66.28
My wife just opened a retirement brokerage account at LPL. I went through authorization for access and validated it in a web LPL.com session. I have no other accounts at LPL in Quicken (I looked at all accounts and hidden… no LPL)
When I add the LPL account and go through their authentication, I get
I only add one and get:
I have never used an LPL account before, but it fails here. What do I do now?

Hi @John_L,
Thank you for reaching out and for outlining the steps you’ve already taken.
Have you tried renaming the account, for example, by removing or adjusting the existing identifier and updating the account number (such as using the last five digits instead of the last four)? If not, please give that a try and let me know how it goes.

Here is the issue … there is NO account in Quicken for LPL. I am trying to add it and get the error.

Hi @John_L,
Thank you for clarifying. I tested this on my end and observed the following: if you try to add two accounts with the same name for the first time, the error message appears as expected. If you then uncheck one of the accounts and attempt to add just a single account, the same error message may still appear, even if there is no existing account in Quicken with that name.
What seems to resolve the issue is canceling the Add Account process and starting again, this time, either selecting only one of the accounts listed under the same name or renaming one of the accounts before adding it.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue or if you notice any changes.
