At the end of 2025, I took the steps to get rid of an old accounting file that had multiple erroneous accounts and entries. I started a new accounting file according to instructions. One checking account gave me trouble. When I did the automatic update, I got years and years of transactions. I went through and deleted each of the old transactions, and everything has been running fine for the last couple of months. I don't know why, but suddenly yesterday, on the online update, the years and years of transactions have re-appeared. It appears to only be one account (of course, the account with the most activity!).
It has to be something that is coded differently on this account. Different accounts from the same bank do not have this problem. I tried to deactivate the online, then reactivate for future, but I got an error from the bank.
My questions:
#1 - What could be coded differently on this account that is causing the huge update?
#2 - Is there a way to mass delete about 7 years transactions?
#3 - Would it be better to somehow save the 6 or so months of transactions to a new account and delete the old account with the multiple years of transactions?
Thank you!
